Song of the Month
(Hopefully) something new for you to check out
"On the Ocean" by Guster
This is my favorite song from their excellent new release Easy Wonderful. It stands out for its driving rhythm, lush sound, and interesting vocal and instrumental arrangements. Set sail for an enjoyable musical journey!!

Featured Artist: Jack Johnson
A few tracks from one of my all-time faves
When Brushfire Fairytales was released in 2001, I thought it was nice but all of the songs kind of sounded the same. Nine years later, the songs still sound quite similar but Jack Johnson's still around with his laid back grooves. Check out my list of the Top 10 Jack Johnson Songs and let me know what you think of my selections of his best.

The Gem
A lesser-known song that deserves more attention
"Surrender" by Ben Lee
Another extremely catchy song from the talented Aussie.

Folk Fascination
Good old fashioned music with acoustic instruments
"Ballad of Paul and Sheila" by Mason Jennings
Every election month I think back to the inspirational Mr. Wellstone whose political career began in my Northfield, MN while I was going to college there. This poignant tribute is one of my favorites from the Minnesota singer-songwriter.

A Cappella
Unaccompanied Treasures
"The Hallelujah Chorus" by The Roches
It's just about Advent season, so it's time to start brushing up on The Messiah. Their take on the Chorus is one of the songs that brought this sister act into the (relative) limelight.

Grab Bag
Something Unique to Send You on Your Way
"Sister Golden Hair" by America
It's kind of nondescript, but I've always liked this song. Check it out.
