Song of the Month
(Hopefully) something new for you to check out
"Faster" by Matt Nathanson
I first discovered Mr. Nathanson and his acoustic guitar on 2007's "Come On Get Higher." This upbeat summer anthem is a little bit lovey dovey but its rhythm is hard to resist.

Featured Artist: Imogen Heap
A few tracks from one of my all-time faves
After hearing the 2005's multitracked a cappella hit "Hide and Seek," I decided to dive deeper into Ms. Heap's catalog. While all of her songs aren't instrument-free, they are all unique, well-produced, and worth a listen. Check out my list of the Top 10 Imogen Heap Songs and let me know what you think of my selections of her best.

The Gem
A lesser-known song that deserves more attention
"The Remedy" by Jason Mraz
It's hard to believe that he's been on the scene for almost 10 years. This song from 2002's excellent Waiting for My Rocket to Come is still one of my favorites.

Folk Fascination
Good old fashioned music with acoustic instruments
"Bird Song" by The Wailin' Jennys
Last month I featured a song from the Jennys' new album in the a cappella category and this month I need to go back to it for this great roots song. I love the simplicity of the banjo and voice introduction that eventually blossoms into an aural delight.

A Cappella
Unaccompanied Treasures
"Down" by Nota
I do make this selection reluctantly as they were one of the groups to beat my friend's group (Face) in The Sing-off. However, this catchy number was the runner-up for best pop/rock song in the 2011 Contemporary A Cappella Recording awards.

Grab Bag
Something Unique to Send You on Your Way
"I Love A Rainy Night" by Eddie Rabbitt
I do generally love rainy nights, but I like them better if the thunder and severe weather sirens don't wake me up. This classic song was on Horizon, one of the first LPs I ever owned. I distinctively remember that the album had this great song, the pleasant "Drivin' My Life Away," and eight other songs that were quite forgettable.
