Song of the Month
(Hopefully) something new for you to check out
"Set Fire to the Rain" by Adele
The girl can sing. I guess you can just add my name to the list of critics that think Adele is one of the most talented singers around and that her new album 21 is destined for a pile of Grammys. I like nearly all of the songs on it, but this one is my current favorite.

Featured Artist: Norah Jones
A few tracks from one of my all-time faves
It's been too long since your last album, Norah. The smooth-voiced pianist was everyone from 2002-2004, racking up awards, doing some great collaborations, and earning a ridiculous amount of radio airplay. Unfortunately we haven't heard from her much since. Until we get some new material, check out my list of the Top 10 Norah Jones Songs and let me know what you think of my selections of her best.

The Gem
A lesser-known song that deserves more attention
"Many the Miles" by Sara Bareillis
Sara Bareillis burst onto the scene with 2007's Little Voice and the hit single "Love Song". She followed it up in 2010 with Kaleidoscope Heart and its single "King of Anything." My favorite song of hers, however, is this soulful track from LV.

Folk Fascination
Good old fashioned music with acoustic instruments
"20 Years" by The Civil Wars
I'm not sure what to make of this throwback male-female duo other than I like their debut album (along with a ton of other iTunes users, who made it #1 when it was released in early February.) Several of their songs are mesmerizing, but his is probably my favorite.

A Cappella
Unaccompanied Treasures
"Fireflies" by The University of Rochester Midnight Ramblers
Once again, a collegiate a cappella group doing an incredibly accurate rendition of a great song. This time it's Owl City's lush hit, one of my favorites of 2009.

Grab Bag
Something Unique to Send You on Your Way
"Hard to Handle" by The Black Crowes
A few days ago I heard this on the radio on the way home from work and it brought me back to the early 90s when the song was released. Just like back then I had to crank it up and sing along with the chorus. If that isn't the mark of a good song, I don't know what is.
