Song of the Month
(Hopefully) something new for you to check out
"Sing" by Josh Wilson
I'm not usually a big Christian Rock fan, but it would seem to be appropriate to make an exception for Christmas. This song is well-produced pop with lyrics to make you re-focus your thoughts. Give it a listen!

Featured Artist: Harry Connick, Jr.
A few tracks from one of my all-time faves
I was first introduced to Harry Connick, Jr. when another Harry (Billy Crystal) met Sally (Meg Ryan) in Rob Reiner's 1989 classic movie. His crooning with a big band was impressive then as it has been in several albums since. He's also a skilled piano player and has done some experimentation with more modern music (the She album). Lately my family has enjoyed his covers of kids songs and multiple Christmas albums. Check of my list of the Top 10 Harry Connick, Jr. Songs and let me know what you think!

The Gem
A lesser-known song that deserves more attention
"Momma Mary" by Roger Whittaker
To many people, Roger Whittaker is a goofy-looking, weird-voiced old guy that sometimes shows up in cheap television commercials. To me, his warm voice is like that of a kind grandfather and I feel at home when he sings "Durham Town" or this, one of my family's Christmas favorites.

Folk Fascination
Good old fashioned music with acoustic instruments
"Frosty the Snowman " by Dan Tyminski
You probably know Dan Tyminski as the lead voice in "Man of Constant Sorrow" from the O Brother, Where Art Thou soundtrack or from his work in Alison Krauss' band, Union Station. Here he does a little pickin' and singin' in an upbeat arrangement of the kids classic.

Aaah Cappella
Unaccompanied Treasures
"O Holy Night " by *NSYNC
Sure, I think Justin Timberlake is hilarious on Saturday Night Live and I've got a little respect for Lance Bass' performances on Dancing with the Stars (not that I'd ever watch that trash), but it was their work with *NSYNC that originally brought them fame. This is my favorite recording from the group because it shows that they had some vocal skills to go with their pretty boy images.

Kiddie Corner
Quality music for kids and adults alike
"Twelve Days of Christmas " by John Denver and the Muppets
Come on, admit it: you always think about Miss Piggy's "ba dump bump bump" after you hear "five golden rings." Well, I do, anyway. This is the choice cut from the most frequently-played Christmas LP from my childhood and I still enjoy it to this day.
