Bruce (Begrudgingly)
“The Boss” turns 60 this year. Can you even believe it? One of the greatest legends of American rock n’ roll, Bruce Sprinsteen has won 19 Grammys and an Oscar and sold over 120 million albums worldwide. I can’t say that I’ve always been a huge fan, though. While I definitely heard songs from Born in the U.S.A. throughout my high school years, they never were among my favorites back then and I’ve never been a huge fan of Bruce’s voice or performing style. Over the years, however, I have grown to sincerely appreciate his 80′s heartland anthems like “My Hometown” and “Glory Days” and his more serious tunes from the 90′s and 2000′s like “Streets of Philadelphia”, “Secret Garden”, and “The Wrestler.” I guess I’ll always like John Mellencamp better for classic rock music and Paul Simon better as a singer-songwriter, but my Top 10 Bruce Springsteen Songs list is quite listenable and continues to grow on me as I get older. Okay, Bruce, are you satisfied now?

What, no “Born to Run” or “Tenth Avenue Freeze Out”? Too begrudging, but a satisfactory list. By the way, what exactly is the apostrophe replacing in ‘nods?

I considered those two songs and I will begrudgingly admit that they are decent, but they don’t make my top 10. I will also begrudgingly admit that there was no reason to have an apostrophe in ‘nods. I begrudgingly thank you.
