Annie!
She doesn’t really seem much like a “Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow” kind of gal, but Annie Lennox definitely can belt it out like a little red-haired orphan. When I first saw and heard her teaming with Dave Stewart and the Eurythmics in the 80s, I though she was a decent singser, but I really didn’t get the whole androgenous thing she had going on at the time. In the 90s she seemed to become more feminine, releasing her terrific Diva and Medusa albums. It was then that I became truly impressed by her vocal stylings and the lavish production of her albums. Recently, her work hasn’t been as impressive, but her CDs will always have a home in my library. Here are my top 10 favorite Annie Lennox songs:
- Here Comes the Rain Again (Eurythmics)
- Little Bird
- No More “I Love You’s”
- Put a Little Love in Your Heart (with Al Green)
- Sweet Dreams Are Made of This (Eurythmics)
- A Thousand Beautiful Things
- Train in Vain
- Walking on Broken Glass
- A Whiter Shade of Pale
- Why
