Spotlight: 1984-1988
Over the next few week’s I’ll be highlighting the yearly “Best of” lists that I compiled from my music library a few months ago. Today I’ll begin by dusting off my box of cassette mix tapes to look at the best music of my high school years, 1984-1988. Looking back, there are some songs that are pure 80′s (“Never Gonna Give You Up”, “We Built This City”, “What’s On Your Mind”), some classics (“Jack and Diane”, “Rosanna”), and some that were really enhanced by some of my favorite videos of all time (“Don’t Worry, Be Happy”, “Rockit”, “Sledgehammer”, “You Can Call Me Al” – see below). It’s also fun (humbling) looking back and realizing that all songs don’t stand the test of time (“You Be Illin’”). What’s on your list?
Don’t Worry, Be Happy
Rockit
Sledgehammer
You Can Call Me Al
