The JayTunes Jam

I know… it’s been a while since my last post.  Part of the reason is because I took the family on a trip to Branson.  While there, I had the pleasure of attending Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede.  I wouldn’t exactly call it the most sophisticated show ever, but it definitely was entertaining and featured some music from Miss Parton herself.  Here are my favorite Dolly Parton songs:

• 9 to 5 – I actually owned this LP
• Color Me America – Part of the finale at The Stampede
• Do I Ever Cross Your Mind? (with Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt)
• Islands in the Stream (with Kenny Rogers)
• I Will Always Love You - I got sick of this song with Whitney, but DP deserves writing props
• Jolene – One of the best bluegrass songs ever, covered by many including Rhonda Vincent
• The Seeker
• Stairway to Heaven – I couldn’t believe it either when I first heard it
• Wings of a Dove (with Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette)
• Why’d You Come in Here Lookin’ Like That?
