My Favorite Songs from the 80s

Filed under: From the Vault, New List!
Since the end of this decade is rapidly approaching, I thought I’d reflect back upon my three decades of serious musical listening. The easiest of the three is the 1980s due to my limited budget and difficulty in getting to the record (cassette) store. Here are my top 10 songs of the 1980’s:
- Baby Grand by Billy Joel
- Closer to Fine by Indigo Girls
- Don’t Worry, Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin
- Hip to Be Square by Huey Lewis and the News
- Jack & Diane by John (Cougar) Mellencamp
- Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson
- No One Is to Blame by Howard Jones
- Rosanna by Toto
- Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel
- The Way It Is by Bruce Hornsby and the Range
Narrowly missing the cut were “Fast Car” by Tracy Chapman, “What I Am” by Edie Brickell and New Bohemians, and “You Can Call Me Al” by Paul Simon. What’s on your list? Do we have any samesies? Leave a comment and let me know!
Check out my Top 20 lists from 1984-1988 and 1989 – 1992 to see from which songs I chose.
